Scientific Fields of the BMIC Doctoral School

The doctoral school includes a little over 100 research teams in 17 research units..

Building on the activities of this scientific community, the BMIC doctoral school offers a particularly rich and favourable framework for research in the fields of molecular and cell biology, integrative biology at the organ and organism level, comparative and evolutionary biology and systems biology.

Our areas of expertise

  • Molecular bases of pathological disorders and ageing
  • Stress biology and cell death
  • Developmental and reproductive biology
  • Stem cell biology
  • Oncology
  • Genetics in its different aspects
  • Functional and comparative genomics
  • Cell differentiation
  • Evolution
  • Immunology
  • Infectiology
  • Tissue engineering
  • Molecular mechanisms of feeding behaviour
  • Vaccination
  • Virology

Experimental models

Experimental models are very diverse: animals (primitive animals, invertebrates, amphibians, fish, birds, rodents, primates), plants (flowering plants, mosses), fungi, eukaryotic cell cultures, bacteria, yeasts, viruses.

The doctoral school is characterized by a strong interest in the study of human pathologies (cancers, viruses, infectious pathologies, autoimmune diseases, genetic diseases) and by the clinical anchoring of certain research teams in the fields of oncology.
